Guling Street Books & Creativity Bazaar - Books in Case {SIDONIEYANG | HANDMADE} |
Continuing from our last post about the 'Washable Kraft Paper Handmade Mini Bookshelf', this is the final product of two nights of burning the midnight oil. All for the purpose of applying to participate in this year's Guling Street Books & Creativity Bazaar. You see, the organizers want all participants to come up with a piece that relates to books, using the material from their own products... we originally couldn't think of anything original.
In the end, however, we came up with the idea of combining one of our popular Business Card Cases with a mini bookshelf tucked within, which is why we call this piece, "Books in Case". It is books, in a business card case, thus "case", and y'know, you never know when you might get bored and need a book to read, thus "in case"!
"夾藏書"- 它珍藏了愛書,也夾藏著回憶;
"Books in Case" is where you'll put the books you love, where you'll put fond memories. Each book that you love needs its own place on your bookshelf... perhaps it's a book that makes you think of a special time, or a book that defined you at one point in your life, or a book that followed you to the furthest corners of the Earth, or a book that was given to you by someone special - all these books need a safe place.

Not being selected for a recent bazaar seems to have affected us, and we don't have too much confidence in being selected for the Guling Street Books & Creativity Bazaar... this will probably be the last bazaar/fair that we participate in this year. In the future, however, we won't take things so seriously and we'll look at things from a different perspective!

We love our mini bookshelf and mini books, but we will be giving it away at the Guling Street Books & Creativity Bazaar (if we're selected to participate, of course). So, come by and play our little activity!

This last photo is of the mini bookshelf in progress. After Sidonie made the mini books, the unprofessional carpenter, Shawn, measured the books and made a suitable bookshelf using 2 mm thick kraft paper board. Sidonie was pleasantly surprised when she saw the results of Shawn's work! It's really quite hard to cut such thick material, and Shawn spent about two hours to get it to the point you see in the photo...
